(and a host of other destinations you might not have expected)

Over 50s specialist, Saga Holidays, launches its new 2013 holidays this week, introducing a tour to the undiscovered African country of Mozambique.

With its beautiful beaches, fascinating wildlife and diverse history, this former Portuguese colony is just finding its way onto the tourism radar. Highlights include the historic city of Maputo, set on the edge of the Indian Ocean with architecture and culture influenced by years of Portuguese colonialism. And who could miss the chance to see the great Limpopo River, hero of Rudyard Kipling’s Just So Stories, which flows through Southern Africa to Mozambique?

Saga has introduced the Transfrontier Trail: Mozambique to Kruger. This fascinating 12 night tour includes a stay in Maputo, three nights in Bilene beside a saltwater lagoon on the Indian Ocean, and onward to explore the natural beauty of the remote Greater Limpopo Transfrontier and Kruger National Parks. This tour also includes a sunset safari in Letaba, an optional deep sea fishing trip in Bilene, and the chance to get back to nature as the final five nights are spent in comfortable safari tents in the national parks. Prices start from £2799 per person.

Mozambique is not the only surprising new arrival to Saga’s 2013 portfolio; other exotic hot spots include Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Kerala, Malawi and Zambia, all featured within Saga’s Travellers World brochure.

Some of the new holidays for 2013 include:
