Ice carving exhibition an iconic tourist attraction in Macao
(Macao, September 26, 2012) – Ice World – Asia’s largest indoor frozen wonderland, held at The Venetian® Macao-Resort-Hotel’s CotaiExpo™ between May 18 and September 16, 2012 – welcomed a higher-than-expected 176,000 visitors during its four-month run. The exhibition featuring beautifully carved ice sculptures carried forward last year’s great success and has become a popular attraction among both residents and tourists, establishing itself as one of Macao’s most anticipated events of the sizzling summer.
“We were delighted to involve our community with this year’s show and would like to thank all of the local schools and organisations that helped us create new and exciting sculptures that added to the wonderful exhibition,” said Gene Capuano, Vice President of Convention and Exhibition Operations, Venetian Macao Ltd. “We also have to thank the Macau Government Tourist Office and the public for their great support to the exhibition. Ice World has already become one of the most spectacular attractions in Macao and The Venetian Macao is extremely proud to have organised such a fabulous event once again with all-new ice carvings for the enjoyment of locals and visitors alike. Events like Ice World are part of Sands China Ltd.’s effort to cement Macao’s position as Asia’s premier business and leisure destination, by broadening the city’s appeal to bring in more visitors and increase their length of stay.”
Ice World was held for the second year in a row at The Venetian Macao this year, displaying stunning ice sculptures in ten different zones featuring newly-designed attractions such as Tiananmen, A-Ma Temple, Macau Grand Prix, a Magic Maze and a winding Double Dragon Slide, all in an 18,000-square-foot indoor ice hall.
