New eco friendly transportation in Copenhagen

Travel around Copenhagen in an eco-friendly way without breaking a sweat. Since May 2012, Copenhagen by Cart has offered a new form of transportation for the city of Copenhagen: electric carts. Now you can experience the city with fresh air and wind in your hair while enjoying the comfort and safety of a car.

If you want to experience Copenhagen at eye-level and feel the buzz of the city, Copenhagen by Cart’s electric carts offer a sustainable form of transportation. Copenhagen is a world famous biking city, but now you can travel around the city in an environmentally friendly way even if you prefer not to cycle.

The carts have many of the same benefits as a car but with greater mobility, meaning that you can navigate your way through central Copenhagen’s narrow, picturesque streets and squares. They offer a unique freedom to experience the heart of the city, plus because these are electric vehicles, parking is free!

The electric carts are equipped with an Android Tablet and a GPS system. Whether you choose to follow one of the pre-planned tours, or make your own way through the city’s streets, the GPS will make sure you never get lost.

Easy access to the inner city
Copenhagen by Cart was started by Anders Juhl. As he explains, he got the idea for the company from some of his own trips to other European cities:

”When I have been on city breaks I have walked for ages and got very tired of it. That’s when I began to think of easier ways to get around cities which also allowed you the freedom to go to specific places without being dependent on public transport.”

Anders Juhl found that the electric carts manufactured by Danish company, Garia, were perfect for negotiating Copenhagen’s inner city:

”The cars were chosen because I think the future of transport in inner cities is green transport – also in the long term. And the car is well suited to the small streets in the centre of Copenhagen because it is small.”

Carts excite the customers
The electric carts have proved to be very popular among the company’s customers. Anders Juhl says:

”Our customers have been very impressed. We have had 500 rentals since we started in May this year. People are really pleased about the free parking for electric cars, and they have discovered that the locals are really happy and welcoming when they drive around the city, waving and greeting them and so on.”

On Copenhagen by Cart’s facebook-page the response is very positive:

“It was really an interesting experience to drive round Copenhagen by cart. We managed to get to corners of Copenhagen we would not have been able to visit if it was not for your cart. It was amazing. Can’t stop telling our friends about it,” says one of the happy costumers.

The electric carts can be used by tourists who are visiting Copenhagen and want to see the city’s famous sights, like The Little Mermaid and Tivoli Gardens, but they can also be used for transfers in conjunction with events, meetings and conferences.
