Organic food accounts for 23% of Copenhageners’ total grocery shopping, as well as a remarkable 75% of all food consumed in the city’s public institutions. As a reflection of this enthusiasm, the Copenhagen House of Food is inviting those wishing to pursue a progressive agenda for better quality and increased use of organic food in the public sector to participate in a new conference.

The conference aims to put the use of high quality organic food in public kitchens on the agenda – its motto is: ‘We aim to create a sustainable, healthy and joyful meal culture’.

About The Copenhagen House of Food
The Copenhagen House of Food was established to improve the quality of public meals in Copenhagen and was originally funded by the city of Copenhagen. Its purpose is to create a nourishing, sustainable and joyful food culture in the public sector of Copenhagen, and to broaden its scope to encompass areas outside of the capital.

‘The Copenhagen House of Food’s goal is to improve the quality of public meals and increase the sustainability and percentage of organic meals consumed. We are also a critical and caring sparring partner for the public institutions and collaborators. Our mission is to ensure that each meal is eaten and created with pleasure and respect, whether in small or large public kitchens.’

Copenhagen is already well known for its many green initiatives – the fact that it holds the world record for consumption of organic food; that 55% of all Copenhageners commute by bicycle every day; and 64% of the city’s hotel rooms are eco-certified, to name just three of these initiatives.

As well as this, the city’s meetings product is so green that the chances are your meeting will be sustainable, whether that was your aim or not – the city has certified experience in hosting state-of-the-art events with a sustainable profile.
