Two Thousand Experts Meet in Florence for Eurogin

Florence Convention Bureau wins the International Congress for 2013 

Over two thousand experts from around the world come to Florence to discuss the latest developments about cancer and cervical papillomavirus research. Florence Convention Bureau, in collaboration with Firenze Fiera, was able to win and bring to Florence the 2013 edition of EUROGIN which will be held from 3th to 5th of November.

EUROGIN is one of the most important international forum for cervical cancer and papillomavirus experts, organized by a prestigious association based in Paris and chaired by Dr. Raphael Monsonego. The event will be the occasion to discuss on results of research and identify more effective clinical forms of treatment. The conference speakers will include prestigious representatives of major international research centers, both public and private, as well as from academic world. Among the sponsors of the initiative there will be also important pharmaceutical companies.

“Competition from other international destinations was very strong – says the director of the Florence Convention Bureau, Carlotta Ferrari –and we are very proud of this result. FCB came into contact with EUROGIN association last February, after a careful analysis of  French associations. We went with Firenze Fiera to their offices to meet the President and Conference Manager Peter Mattonet and discuss about locations and services we can offer, including a great welcome event to the delegates and we will incur its expenses. This is a big effort that we will gladly do, knowing what will be the congress economic impact on the Florentine area.”

Worldwide, every year there are about 510,000 reported cases of cervical cancer, which thus becomes the second leading cause of cancer death for women. However, cervical cancer is treatable, and often is curable, if identified in the early stages of development. The congress will therefore accelerate the transformation of scientific discoveries into everyday medical practice.
