ABPCO, the Association of British Professional Conference Organisers, today announces that Glasgow City Marketing Bureau has become the Association’s first Patron.

The announcement was revealed to ABPCO PCO members at an inaugural Chairman’s event, part of the Association’s 25th anniversary celebrations, held recently at the Royal College of Physicians.  Patronage has been awarded to GCMB in recognition of its support of the Association and its members, in addition to its dedication to professionalism in the industry.

Michael Foreman, ABPCO Chair, commented: “As we come towards the end of what has been a very successful and celebratory 25th year for ABPCO, we are delighted to announce GCMB as the first Association Patron. This was made all the more significant as we were able to make the announcement at the first Chairman’s lunch, in front of guests that ranged from founding associates, through to our newest members.

“We see our patrons as supportive guardians of the Association, who champion ABPCO and help to raise the profile within the industry. With the help of GCMB we will continue to fulfil our mission statement of ‘Ensuring Excellence in Conference and Event Organisation’.”

Scott Taylor, Chief Executive of Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, commented: “Glasgow City Marketing Bureau is delighted to be a Patron of the Association of British Professional Conference Organisers.  Its goal to raise the standards of professionalism across the meetings industry is being realised and the association is recognised as an authoritative and credible voice of the industry.

“Importantly, the networking platforms it provides to members, combined with its education and personal development opportunities, offer career enhancing chances that industry professionals are hungry for. GCMB wants to be associated with ABPCO because its brand and positioning will add value to ours. I urge other patrons to step up and support the industry organisation that supports you. ”

The ABPCO Patronage Scheme will invite a further six partners to become patrons of ABPCO, each with exclusivity in their particular field. GCMB represents the ‘Convention Bureau’ category, following many years of working closely with a number of ABPCO PCOs on a broad range of conferences and conventions.
