Global pharmaceuticals trade fair CPhI Worldwide, which was held at the IFEMA premises on 9-11 October, brought a total of 2,446 exhibitors from the pharmaceutical industry together in Madrid. This important trade fair, recognised as one of the most internationally influential, hosted 30,000 participants from 141 different countries.

CPhI Worldwide, held on 9-11 October at IFEMA, concluded with highly successful attendance, attracting a total of 30,000 professionals to Madrid from all over the world.

The sheer size of this international fair, one of the pharmaceutical industry’s most prestigious events, was a deciding factor in choosing Feria de Madrid’s installations to host CPhI Worldwide 2012. The 140,768 square metres of gross area at the IFEMA premises, as well as the advantages offered by its exhibition halls, 8 of which were occupied by the fair, were perfect for hosting the more than 2,400 exhibitors and co-exhibitors who took part in the event.

This latest edition of CPhI, where foreign professionals made up 98% of visitors, aimed to highlight the potential of India’s pharmaceutical industry and its importance in medicine production, by making it the star country of the event. Therefore, this large international UBM-organised event has served to publicise the advances and emerging breakthroughs in the spheres of pharmaceutical research and marketing.

Another series of events closely related to the pharmaceutical industry were held alongside CPhI Worldwide 2012, such as the ICSE (International Contract Services Expo), InnoPack (Innovating Packaging Solutions) and P-MEC (Pharmaceutical Machinery, Equipment and Technology). All of these, together with CPhI 2012, helped to facilitate business relations between companies and potential customers thanks to face-to-face sessions, as well as providing a reflection of the latest trends in the industry.

The third edition of CPhI Worldwide to be held at IFEMA, together with visitor numbers which make it one of the most important business events in Spain, generated revenues for Madrid’s service sector totalling over €150 million.
