A “Walking Day“ specially for the walkers/Nordic walkers, a new sightseeing route for those running in the 10-km race and a song specifically written for the Unicef Kids Run – those are the most important new arrangements for the 9th TUI Marathon Palma de Mallorca, which will take place on 21 October.

“The ‘most beautiful island marathon in the world‘, as we like to call it, will now be even better as a result of these attractions“, stressed Michael Lambertz, Director Group Marking at TUI. “We are proud that this year the Marathon is again a firm date in the international running calendar and is attracting so many athletes to Palma.“

Up to now more than 8,500 runners from over 50 countries have registered for the sporting autumn event on the Balearic Island. The walkers and Nordic walkers will kick off the event weekend on Friday, 19 October when they start on the waterside promenade directly opposite the event centre in the Parc de la Mar.

The second highlight follows on Saturday, 20 October: The Unicef Kids Run will be accompanied by a photo exhibition this year and the action will be started with its own song. The song written by two Majorcans has been played in advance in the island’s schools and definitely has a catchy melody.

Sunday, 21 October is the main Marathon day with the disciplines of the Marathon, Half Marathon and 10-km Run. The runners over the 10-km distance can look forward to a new panoramic route. For the first time it leads through the historical old town.
