From a world-first discussion about communications in war-torn countries including Afghanistan to conversations about the Asian Century and defining PR campaigns of the 21st century, next week’s World PR Forum will truly demonstrate ‘communication without borders’.
More than 800 leading communicators from 30 countries will gather in Melbourne from Sunday 18 November for the seventh bi-annual World PR Forum hosted by the Public Relations Institute of Australia.
Public Relations Institute of Australia President, Nicolas Turner, says the forum will bring together world leaders in communication including Richard Edelman, president and CEO of Edelman; Charlie Miller from Boeing; Anna Adriani from international coffee brand Illycafé; and Wadah Khanfar the former Director General of the Al-Jazeera Network.
“We have the best minds in communications coming to Melbourne and like many of our delegates I’m looking forward to three days of engaging and rigorous discussion,” Mr Turner said.
Convened by the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, the forum will run over three days at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre and cover a plethora of topics from coffee to world poverty to lap dancing crises.
With communication rapidly transforming global society, the forum is an opportunity to break down barriers, facilitate intercultural understanding, and consider how to enhance the PR profession’s contributions to organisations – and society.
New methods, research and ideas in the field of professional communication will be presented and workshopped culminating in the development of the ‘Melbourne Mandate’, and Australia will showcase its excellence in public relations and communication practice.
The world-class business program will follow a research colloquium covering diverse topics such as the global context of social media, crossing barriers in health communication and managing reputations during a lap dancing crisis.
