Pera Palace Hotel, Jumeirah has always held a central role in the cultural riches of the city and has been home to many a prolific historic figure. It is believed that celebrated author Agatha Christie penned ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ in room 411, a room that has now been renamed the Agatha Christie Room in her honour and in memory of the mysteries around her lost diary. The ‘Museum Hotel’ status was further reinforced with the unveiling of Room 101, the preferred base for Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of modern-day Turkey, as a museum containing many personal artefacts of the great leader on his 100th birthday in 1981.
