(Macao, November 19, 2012) – One of the largest MICE events to ever come to Macao is on its way in November, with Sands® Cotai Macao announcing a booking for a staff annual meeting from one of the world’s leading multinational pharmaceutical companies, set to make use of the unrivalled MICE  facilities and expertise of Sands Cotai Macao, utilising both sides of Sands China’s sprawling Cotai Strip® development.

An estimated 6,000 attendees from all over China will be offered diverse accommodation choices, occupying around 3,000 rooms per night at The Venetian® Macao; Conrad Macao, Cotai Central; Sheraton Macao Hotel, Cotai Central and Holiday Inn Macao Cotai Central; and will attend event sessions at both The Venetian Macao’s CotaiArena™ and at the meeting space at Sands® Cotai Central, over the course of four days.

The upcoming convention is a strong testament to Sands China Ltd.’s long-term effort in developing Macao’s MICE industry, and showcases both Macao and Sands China’s abilities in hosting mega conferences. The event is set to bring Macao closer toward becoming Asia’s premier destination for leisure, entertainment and business, where delegates can experience what the city has to offer.

The upcoming convention also demonstrates the unmatched ability of Sands Cotai Macao to cater to events of this scale. The 3,000-suite Venetian Macao features Shoppes Grand Canal, international restaurants, the 15,000-seat CotaiArena, the luxury Venetian Theatre, and CotaiExpo™, one of the largest convention, meeting and exhibition centres in Asia, offering over 800,000 square feet (74,000 square metres) of exhibition space.

Sands Cotai Macao’s newest facilities came online with Sands Cotai Central’s recent launch of its second phase of development, with the opening of the world’s largest Sheraton hotel, at a spectacular opening ceremony on September 20. In addition to the more than 1,800 rooms of Sheraton Macao Hotel’s Sky Tower, the launch saw the opening of the 53,000-square-foot (4,900-square-metre) Kashgar ballroom, one of the largest in Asia.

With the next development phase of Sands Cotai Central due for completion in early 2013, the combined Sands China portfolio of properties will feature over 9,000 hotel rooms and suites, 1.3 million square feet (120,000 square metres) of meeting and convention space, over 100 different dining options, more than 600 luxury and mid-market duty-free retail shops.
