Club Melbourne celebrates 2012

Last week 13 ambassadors from the Club Melbourne Ambassador Program were recognised for their success during 2012 in securing 14 international conferences for the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) at an exclusive cocktail reception, held at the venue.

The Honourable Louise Asher, Victorian Minister for Tourism and Major Events presented the key note speech and congratulated ambassadors on their significant achievements over the past year.

MCEC’s Chief Executive, Peter King said: “The Club Melbourne Ambassador Program is such a valuable asset to Melbourne, delivering many international conferences, events and visitors to our doorstep. We are honoured to have this unique group of individuals act as ambassadors for MCEC.”

The 14 international conferences cover a broad range of fields including transport, medicine, science, health and business and will be held at MCEC over the next six years.

More than 100 guests celebrated with MCEC’s award-winning catering that showcased the best of local produce and wine from many regions of Victoria.

MCEC’s Clarendon Room was themed with a celebration tree of the ambassador’s wins and installations highlighting Melbourne’s iconic buildings and unique culture.

The Club Melbourne Ambassador Program is a collaborative strategy supported by Melbourne Convention + Visitors Bureau, MCEC and the State Government of Victoria.

This partnership has delivered 65 international events for Melbourne since 2005 – with a forecast economic impact of over $450 million.
