Gdansk Convention Bureau – leader of Innovation!

Gdansk Tourism Organisation, Gdansk Convention Bureau received title of Regional Leader of Innovation and Development.

It is already third award for Gdansk Tourism Organisation (GOT) and Gdansk Convention Bureau (GCB) on the regional stage of the contest, for the second time in Innovative Organisation category. In previous editions both – GCB and GOT, were awarded for the ‘Volunteers for Gdansk’ project financed from the European Union funds.

This year jury judged how participants of the contest are using innovative solutions in their daily activities. Because of the two brand new mobile apps – gdansk4u and GCBeVENT, GCB and GOT are leaders in using new technologies in Poland.

Another important factor was how organizations cooperate with their partners. GOT for example created Tourist Card which engages several institutions like museums, City Hall, Marshall Office and private sector. GCB, as and example of cooperation presented Road Show organized in Munich, Germany. Meeting called “Let’s Gdansk” was dedicated to the biggest event companies in Germany and it was organize in cooperation with General Polish Consulate in Munich and Polish Center of Tourist Information in Berlin. GCB invited its members (hotels, Professional Conference Organisers PCO, DMCs) who had a chance to present their offer to the top German event planners.

In contest applications GOT also described its annual conference – New Trends in Tourism that attracted over 140 delegates. GCB organized many editions of Tricity Academy of Business Meetings Organizers – last one was organized in cooperation with EIBTM (the biggest business tourism fairs in Europe). Workshops were dedicated to the new technologies and new trends in meetings industry.

Moreover, GOT and GCB descibred organized by them special projects like Interactive Tourist Information System and promotional campaign based on 4 tourism products of Gdansk & Region – amber, sea, Solidarity and gothic castles.

Results of the second, national stage of the contest will be known in January 2013. Cross fingers!

Regional Leaders of Innovation and Development contest is organized by Foundation of Innovation and Development which was found in 2007 in Warsaw.
