The HBAA has revealed that the association is hoping to round off the year by raising a record amount for the 2012 Chairman’s Charity: the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
2012 Chairman Chris Peacock selected the RNLI as the focus for the HBAA’s fundraising campaigns for the year. Initiatives to date have included the HBAA in a Boat event, which involved several prominent industry figures being cast adrift in choppy waters in the port of Poole and only rescued by the RNLI when their target total was raised.
Next month (Friday 11th January 2013), the HBAA will host its Annual Dinner at The Brewery in the City of London; once again, the Association’s prestigious membership of hotels, agents and venues has generously donated items worth thousands of pounds to the HBAA Charity Auction in aid of the RNLI.
Items including international and domestic hotel trips, tickets to see Bon Jovi in concert, afternoon tea at The Ritz and Lord’s Cricket Ground and signed Coldplay memorabilia are available for bidding until Thursday 10th January 2013. There will also be several high value items auctioned on the night.
Chris Peacock, Chairman of the HBAA, said: “One objective for my year as Chairman was to raise enough money to fully fund the training of two lifeboat stations for a year: we are tantalisingly close to that target, and I would love to be able to top what has been a fantastic year with a great donation to a worthy cause while raising awareness of the RNLI’s life-saving work.”
