The Melbourne Convention Bureau’s (MCB) Bid Executive, Roslyn du Plooy, was awarded the prestigious Meeting & Events Australia (MEA)/USI Young Professional Scholarship at the MEA Victoria 2012 Industry Awards on Monday night.
The MEA Industry Awards recognise excellence and best business practice in the meetings and events industry, encouraging industry professionals to reach their goals, and rewarding those who achieve outstanding results.
The Scholarship will pay for Miss du Plooy’s registration, flights and accommodation to the 26th Annual MEA National Conference in Darwin. This conference is run for MEA members and seeks to inspire and ignite a conversation around key areas of interest for the meetings and events industry including: leadership, state of the nation, global trends, innovation and emerging markets in Asia.
MCB Chief Executive Officer, Karen Bolinger, said Miss du Plooy was a deserving recipient of the MEA/USI Young Professional Scholarship.
“Roslyn is an asset to MCB who has continued to grow and excel in the organisation in a number of roles including her current position of Bid Executive,” Ms Bolinger said.
“We are proud of Roslyn’s achievements in the business events industry, including her active involvement in the Victorian Y MEA Committee, and are excited to see her add the MEA/USI Scholarship as another feather in her cap.”
Ms Bolinger also acknowledged MCB members who received awards at the event.
“MCB’s members represent premier business events suppliers in Victoria, and I would like to congratulate Federation Square, MCI Australia, Atlantic Group [v], Epicure at Zinc, RACV City Club and Staging Connections on their award wins,” Miss Bolinger said.
“I would especially like to highlight the feats of our valued Strategic Partner, the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, which added four MEA awards to its trophy cabinet, reaffirming its reputation as a world-class conference facility.”
MCB members recognised at the MEA awards were:
- · Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre: Business Development Person of the Year, Prue Rogers; Meeting Venue 500 Delegates or more; Banqueting & Catering; and In-House AV Services (company or department).
- · Atlantic Group [v]: Corporate Social Responsibility over 30 full time employees.
- · Epicure at Zinc: Specialty Event Venue; and Corporate Social Responsibility over 30 full time employees.
- · Federation Square: Public Event of the Year, The Light in Winter; and Operations Person of the Year, Peter Middenway.
- · MCI Australia: Meetings Manager of the Year, Cindy-Lee Bakos.
- · RACV City Club: Meeting Venue under 500 Delegates.
- · Staging Connections: Technical & Creative Production – Branch Turnover more than $5 Million.
