Industry-pioneering Tech Fest, which aims to engage event organisers with new technologies, has announced plans to hold its second event on July 18 – 19th in London following high demand from participants at the inaugural event…. Launched in June 2012, Tech Fest brings together event organisers with cutting-edge event technology for two days of hands on experiences and structured networking.
The event, organised by specialist event consultants Gallus Events, will take place at etc.venues’ Dexter House, Tower Hill. Invitations to pre-register have been offered initially to the Gallus Events LinkedIn Group, Making Good Organisers Great, in anticipation of high demand for places. Tech Fest 2012 sold out in just six weeks using social media and attracted 140 attendees. Tech Fest is the only event in the UK that focuses entirely on event technology, aiming to combine strong content with a focus on community building.
Speakers will include Julius Solaris, Editor of the successful Event Manager Blog, who will be discussing Event Technology Trends and Stefania Conti-Vecchi of event technology strategists Eventagist who will look at how to run an event on an i-Pad using only free apps.
Content for the first day of Tech Fest will focus on technologies that can be used pre-event to attract attendees, add value to stakeholders and assist in earning revenue. Day two will look at the uses of technology during an event, such as keeping attendees engaged, helping them to learn and assisting with networking.
Mobile app builder Twoppy will be demonstrating their mobile event programme creator, while SMS and internet voting system providers Sendsteps will be showcasing their interactive software. Attendees will also have the opportunity to get hands-on with The Spray Paint Wall and many other cutting-edge technologies.
Tech Fest founder William Thomson commented: “The appropriate use of technology can have a huge positive impact on all types of events and it is crucial that we encourage the awareness of new technology that allows organisers to add more value to the business they work for: Tech Fest is an excellent vehicle for this.”
Tech Fest partner Eventsforce will be presenting on how marketers and event organisers can make the most of the data collected at their events by utilising delegate management software. Eventsforce CEO George Sirius commented: “At Eventsforce, we are very passionate about encouraging the use of technology so that event managers can draw as much value from events as possible. We are excited to have the opportunity to partner with Tech Fest, a truly unique event.”
Deborah Babbage, Events Manager, The Alternative Investment Management Association Limited (AIMA), said: “I’ve just registered for Tech Fest 2013 as I really enjoyed the event in 2012 and am looking forward to seeing how Gallus Events will create an “experience” and not just an event this year. Looking forward to it already!”
Duncan MacOwen, Head of Events and New Media at FESPA, commented: “Last year’s event sold out so I booked on straight away to make sure I could attend. It was a great event – not just showing technology, but discussing how best to deploy it and FESPA met with a few of the suppliers following the event. I am really looking forward to what weird and wacky things Gallus Events will do with the event this year.”
