A new international concept comes to Brussels on 18 May 2013. Restaurant Day is a citizens’ initiative based on the theme of sharing and encounters through food.
Restaurant Day is an event which gives participants the opportunity and freedom for a day to fulfil their dreams and put into practice their ideas for opening a restaurant.
Anyone can open a restaurant, or a bar or café, for a day in their own home, in a workshop or at a friend’s house. A juice bar, cakes distributed from the air, a six-course dinner… anything is possible on the day.
The food carnival has been spontaneously taking over the streets of Helsinki for a number of years. Initially ad hoc, Restaurant Day now takes place once a season and has had an international dimension since the second time it was held, with almost 20 countries currently involved.
From Tokyo to New York, Helsinki to Paris, all participants are listed on a single website available in 15 languages.
Given the close match between the values underlying this event and those promoted by the Brussels Capital Region, VISITBRUSSELS decided to take up the challenge and make Brussels one of the event’s foremost cities.
So, VISITBRUSSELS invites all budding chefs who wish to participate to come forward and register on the website www.restaurantday.org.
The next Restaurant Day will take place on 18 May this year!
