A delightful array of festive fanfare on a grand scale for an entire month

Macao – The Venetian® Macao is proudly bringing its popular, free-admission carnival festivities back for a victorious third year return. To meet popular demand, this year’s Venetian Carnevale is a month-long festival on the grandest-ever scale. An opening ceremony was hosted Thursday evening at The Venetian Macao lagoon with the presence of MariaHelena de Senna Fernandes, Director of the Macau Government Tourist Office; Paola Guida, Trade Commissioner of the Italian Trade Commission; Filipe Santos Cunha, President of the Macau Wine Society and Brendon Elliott, Vice President of Sales & Resort Marketing, Venetian Macau Limited. The honourable guests marked the start of Venetian Carnevale by officiating the countdown to one of the world’s largest architectural video mapping projects ever created, the spectacular 3D light and sound show The Magical Masks of Venezia. The ceremony was full of joy and festive spirit, with performers entertaining the crowd with aerial dances, fire juggling, music and dramatic acts.

From now until May 26, 2013, Venetian Carnevale transforms The Venetian Macao into a fun-filled Italian carnival, with one month of celebrations and festivities throughout the popular integrated resort.

Supported by the Macau Government Tourist Office, Venetian Carnevale brings an attractive springtime festival to Macao, featuring two spectacular events: Carnevale Extravaganza, which runs from April 25 to May 5, and the Macau Wine & Dine Festival 2013 from May 23 to 26. Festive activities include exciting bandaloop performances, The Magical Masks of Venezia 3D light and sound show on the resort façade with a classic Italian theme, non-stop street entertainment, a magical carousel experience, ZORB balls in the lagoon, traditional Venetian mask and face painting, glass blowing, plus wine and dine options.

“The Venetian Macao first introduced its annual carnival festivities in 2011 as a three-day special event, and has been receiving incredibly positive feedback over the past two years,” said Brendon Elliott, Vice President of Sales & Resort Marketing, Venetian Macau Limited. “This year, we are delighted to extend its scale. We are glad to introduce the month-long Venetian Carnevale in grand Italian style to the region and to introduce the best of Italian carnival culture as well as high quality wine and dine options to people visiting Macao. Venetian Carnevale is an attractive destination for everyone, from families with children to young adults, and from locals to business and leisure travellers looking for an entertaining spring respite. It will be an iconic event not to be missed, celebrating classic Italian lifestyle and experiences.”
