Amsterdam RAI was announced the Silver winner of the prestigious IMEX/GMIC (Green Meeting Industry Council) Green Supplier Award at the IMEX Gala Dinner on Wednesday 22 May in Frankfurt.
The IMEX/GMIC Green Supplier Award recognises environmental excellence and innovation within the meetings industry and represents the highest accolade for environmental responsibility among meeting suppliers.
The IMEX/GMIC 2013 Green Supplier Silver Award went to Amsterdam RAI in recognition of its continued commitment to the environment. This is reflected in the thorough integration of Corporate Social Responsibility within its mission to become a visible leader in the field of sustainability within the European conference and event industry. Amsterdam RAI also has a clear definition of ‘sustainable results’ – i.e., being profitable in a way that contributes to a sustainable society and striking a balance between the two in the choices it makes.
One of Amsterdam RAI’s long-term goals is to achieve 25% more waste separation and reduction in 2013 compared to 2007. The team has made good progress to date, with a 19% reduction – just shy of the intended 20% – achieved by 2011. Progress measures for power consumption, transport, water and air quality, among others, have also been clearly defined.
“It is fantastic to be recognised by our colleagues in the industry, especially in such an important area as sustainability,” comments Babs Nijdam, Business Development Manager at Amsterdam RAI. “This award celebrates the splendid efforts made by the entire RAI staff and confirms that we are on the right track with our CSR policy.”
