The annual Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) World Congress has received a record number of registrations for this year’s event, to be held at ACC Liverpool from 24-26 June.
With over 1,700 set to attend from 68 different countries, the congress programme is packed with sessions involving world-renowned speakers from the UK and abroad. It will be a first for the College in linking with the UK specialist societies for active input into the scientific programme.
This programme will feature five streams daily with a wide variety of topics enabling attendees to tailor their own programme according to their personal interests and clinical practice.
Stream topics will include perinatal/maternal-fetal medicine, reproductive medicine, sexual health, patient safety and quality as well as international and education.
This year’s congress will also see the introduction of the RCOG Sir William Gilliatt Awards, presented to attendees who present the best original abstracts during the congress. These new awards were made possible through The Sir William Gilliatt Memorial Fund and aim to promote the principles of the College and encourage research in all aspects of obstetrics and gynaecology.
Dr Tony Falconer, President of the RCOG, said: “This year’s congress is looking very promising with a full programme and our biggest yet in terms of attendees. It will also be a special time for me as it will be my last congress as outgoing RCOG President.
“We have a record number of abstracts submitted this year and we have a great venue for the event. ACC Liverpool is one of the largest conference centres in the UK right in the heart of the city.
“Liverpool is a city that has special historical ties to the College, as home of RCOG co-founder Professor William Blair-Bell.
“We are also very excited this year to have involvement from the UK’s specialist societies as they have designed some of the sessions in the scientific programme with world-leaders in their field.”
