ESC-2013Amsterdam welcomes Europe’s largest medical conference (ESC Congress 2013)

From Saturday 31 August 31 to Wednesday 4 September 2013, Amsterdam RAI will set the stage for the largest medical conference in Europe. Over five days, some 30,000 participants, speakers and representatives from more than 150 countries will converge on Amsterdam for this event, organised by the European Society of Cardiology (ESC).

Every year, the organisers of the European Society of Cardiology bring together numerous cardiology professionals, ranging from surgeons and clinicians to scientists and nurses. The ESC Congress is famous as the largest meeting of medical practitioners in Europe and the largest conference covering cardiovascular issues in the world.

“I am delighted that the ESC Congress has returned to Amsterdam,” says Ben Hainsworth, Director of the Congresses & Meetings Division of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC). “It is crucial to choose the right venue as this conference is the most important item on our agenda. Our cooperation with Amsterdam RAI is very enjoyable and we are very much looking forward to the conference.”

“We are proud that the ESC Congress will be taking place in Amsterdam once again,” adds Hans Bakker, director of Amsterdam RAI. “The whole team is very aware of the impact of Europe’s largest medical event and is doing its best to make the ESC Congress 2013 a resounding success.”

Amsterdam RAI is on schedule to show that it can receive 30,000 cardiology professionals smoothly. The direct connection with Schiphol Airport and the centre of Amsterdam, the high-quality facilities of Amsterdam RAI and the attractive atmosphere of the city of Amsterdam are the ideal ingredients for a successful cardiology conference.

The conference in numbers

Leading scientists will give more than 4,000 presentations, plenary lectures and seminars on the latest research and clinical trials during the ESC Congress 2013. The 10,500 abstracts submitted from ninety countries will cover more than 145 cardiovascular issues.

400.00 international visitors at Amsterdam RAI

The number of visitors to international exhibitions and conferences in the RAI has continued to increase. For the first time, Amsterdam RAI is expecting to attract over 400,000 international visitors to Amsterdam in 2013. This is part of a highly impressive increase of 30 percent over the past five years, which was largely due to medical conferences and events involving information technology and energy.
