ACC Liverpool welcomed the Bank of England governor Mark Carney during his visit to the North West.
The venue, home to BT Convention Centre and Echo Arena, played host to Mr Carney’s roundtable meeting with several regional business industry and labour figures.
Following his appointment as governor in July, Mr Carney indicated that he plans to visit each region of the country within his first year in the job.
A spokesman for Mr Carney said: “These regional visits provide the governor and fellow monetary policy committee (MPC) members the opportunity to witness first-hand developments in the economy and to hear about the business conditions that firms in the region currently face. They also provide a forum for the Bank of England to explain its policies and outline its views on the outlook for the economy and inflation.”
Bob Prattey, chief executive of ACC Liverpool, said: “Liverpool has undergone extensive regeneration and ACC Liverpool, built five years ago, has become a symbol of the cultural, physical and economic transformation of the waterfront and the city.
“We are honoured that the governor hosted this meeting at ACC Liverpool and pleased that he was able to experience Liverpool’s progression.”
