Conference tourism in Italy is an important market, which institutions cannot afford to undervalue if they wish to boost the country’s competitiveness as a destination.
For the first time, BTC is organising the Italian Politicians Forum, the objective of which is to illustrate to politicians and local councillors the value of the meetings industry for individual destinations and for the country, beyond the more commonly-known tourism-related benefits, and its key features and issues. By providing them with this information, it is hoped to raise their awareness of a sector that in Italy struggles to be considered an industry in its own right.
The forum will present some of the best practices of countries that have invested in the meetings industry as a way to promote the destination on international markets. It will be held before an invited audience of regional tourism councillors, municipal councillors and mayors.
This type of event, unprecedented in Italy, is organised by BTC, which confirms its role as the main gathering in Italy for all the sector’s stakeholders, bringing together the industry and institutions to discuss important issues relating to governance and development. The forum, which is open to all BTC participants, will be held from 2pm to 4 pm on 12 November.
The Italian Politicians Forum is organised in partnership with the Triumph Group.
