MCI Builds Its Expertise in the Global Sports Sector

Barbara_Martins_NioGeneva, Switzerland – October 11, 2013. MCI announced the creation of a Sports Business Unit which will focus on advising and delivering innovative customer oriented Sports service solutions and strategies.

This new business unit will offer expertise in strategic enhancement and engagement services to existing association and corporate clients within the field of Sports. Furthermore, the new business unit will also concentrate on operational delivery for local and global event management, event hospitality, creative services, central booking, sponsorship services, as well as other MCI service offerings tailored to sports right holders ( International Federations , National Olympic Committees, National Federations,  Bidding/ Organizing Committees, leagues and  clubs

Heading up the new Sports Business Unit will be Barbara Martins-Nio acting as Sports Business Unit Director. Barbara brings over 14 years of experience and success in consulting, creating, planning, managing and delivering operational services related to international sporting events.

This experience has allowed Barbara to obtain leading roles in Organising Committees and Hospitality Agencies for the following events: 2000 Nice World Ice Skating Championships, 2001 France World Handball Championships, 2003 Paris World Athletic Championships, 2007 France Rugby World Cup, 2010 South Africa FIFA World Cup. Additionally, Barbara has also acted as Accommodation Consulting Advisor for; Paris 2012 Summer Olympic bid committee, Annecy 2018 Winter Olympic bid committee and was the Accommodation and Hospitality Consulting Advisor for 2014 Caen World Equestrian Games.
