Bureau partners with local Chamber of Commerce on Joint Business Matchmaking Mission to China to increase network of clients and potential investors who in turn will bring in more business events to Sarawak.
KUCHING, 8 October 2013: Sarawak Convention Bureau (SCB) will partner with Sarawak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) on a Joint Business Matchmaking Mission to Shanghai, China from the 7th to 8th November 2013.
Managing Director of SCB, Mr Mike Cannon commented, “There has been increasing interest from China based on our previous sales missions and we believe that through this collaboration with SCCI, we can present more opportunities for trade of products and services in Sarawak and in turn promote Sarawak as an ideal venue for business events.”
“We are leveraging on SCCI’s database to network and bring more conventions to Sarawak. The value of business events goes beyond economics and contributes to additional education, research, export trade and corporate social responsibility (CSR) opportunities and much more” Mr. Cannon added.
To be held at The Hongta Hotel in the Pudong District, Shanghai. The success of this mission is the strong support from Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE) managed by the Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA), Industrial & Corporate Bank of China, Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), Consulate General of The People’s Republic of China in Kuching and Malaysia Investment Development Authority (MIDA) together with SCB-SCCI.
YBhg Datuk Abang Haji Abdul Karim Tun Abang Haji Openg, President and Chairman and National and Regional Relations Committee of SCCI commented, “We are inviting about 70 potential buyers with interest of investments related to SCORE in the areas of aluminium, glass, steel, tourism and more. With a diverse delegation from Sarawak, we are able to offer a varied offering from different industries.”
“Through this mission we hope that we can promote an easier channel of communication with the Government and other business chambers and organisations based in Sarawak to interested China counterparts. We are pleased to partner with SCB as our core focus is to expand trade opportunities to Sarawak and by working together, we can leverage on both networks to achieve this,” he added.
The SCB-SCCI Joint Business Matchmaking Mission is organised to coincide with the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) Annual Congress to be held in Shanghai from 2nd to 6th November 2013.
