On March 1, 2014 Dr Hilka Schneider will join the Management Board* of TUI AG and, as general counsel, assume responsibility for Group Legal Affairs, Governance, Risk and Compliance. In the middle of the year she will also head the Executive Board office of the company. In her legal role, she succeeds the previous head in-house counsel, Andreas Göhmann, who is retiring after many successful years of activity for Preussag and TUI. Dr Schneider already joined the legal department of TUI AG at the beginning of January to work together for a professional transition in the weeks ahead.

After studying and receiving her doctorate at the University of Münster, Dr Schneider began her career in 2000 at the respected international law firm Clifford Chance, where she advised international companies on merger and acquisition transactions in the Corporate Finance department. In 2005, she joined the DAX-listed logistics group Deutsche Post DHL, where her responsibilities as a staff attorney included mergers and acquisitions, domestic and foreign joint ventures, and capital market law. Since 2008, Dr Schneider was responsible as general counsel for the legal department and the office for the management and supervisory boards of the international engineering firm Demag Cranes AG (now Terex after a merger).

“I am pleased that TUI has been joined by Dr Schneider, a very experienced attorney with many years of international activity in the environments of legal firms and corporations. In her roles with Deutsche Post DHL and Demag Cranes, she worked in other listed companies and brings extensive experience in transactions and the capital market to us. It is important to me that the TUI Management Board has a good mixture of experienced TUI managers and managers who bring expertise from elsewhere. This enriches the company’s diversity and our ability to make decisions,” commented Friedrich Joussen, Chairman of the TUI Executive Board.

“I am particularly grateful to Andreas Göhmann, who has served for 16 years as head in-house counsel, providing significant support and contributions to the development of Preussag and TUI. He is distinguished by his reliability, straightforwardness, great expertise and discretion. His advice has always been valuable to me, so I am pleased that he will continue to support us in the months ahead,” Joussen added.

* As of March 1, 2014, the TUI AG Management Board will consist of Executive Board members Friedrich Joussen (CEO), Horst Baier and Peter Long as well as Sebastian Ebel, Thomas Ellerbeck, Susanne Kohrs and Dr Hilka Schneider.
