In the last six months delegates and conference organisers have eagerly embraced the Cairns Convention Centre’s Local Produce Map, showing where food being served originated and providing evidence of food mile reduction. This concept has now been taken to a new level with a fully interactive map.
By clicking on a product or town on the Interactive Local Produce Map an image and relevant information will be displayed. The map is available on the Centre’s website and electronic versions will be strategically placed during catered events allowing touch screen viewing.
To further support the Cairns Convention Centre’s commitment to promoting the outstanding variety of produce available in the region, complimentary exotic fruit tastings are being offered to conference delegates during morning tea. As the first Australian convention centre to offer these value-adds, clients can not only enhance their tropical experience but learn more about the surrounding area.
Ross Steele, General Manager, Cairns Convention Centre said, “We are proud to support our local producers whilst also providing a better delegate experience. We expect these enhancements will be enjoyed by the 14,000 conference guests we look forward to welcoming in 2014 including delegates from the Australian Tourism Exchange in May and the G20 Finance Ministers and World Bank Governors Meeting in September as well many high profile conferences and congresses throughout the year.”
