Fare of London Chef takes silver at IACC UK Copper Skillet CompetitionFare of London chef Cristian Dumitru took 2nd place at this weekend’s UK final of the international IACC (International Association of Conference Centres) Copper Skillet competition. Cristian represented Fare of London throughout the UK leg of the competition reaching the final on Saturday 25th January where he competed against four other IACC member Conference Centre chefs of the highest calibre.  The achievement follows on from previous success in the competition last year where Fare of London executive chef David Summerell also took second place.

The competition, sponsored by catering supplier 3663, involved contestants producing a plated main course dish within the time limit of 30 minutes and using only the ingredients given to them in a mystery box. The contestant’s final dishes were each judged by two industry professional judges, Peter Griffiths MBE and Fergus Martin, based on the criteria of taste, texture, optimum use of ingredients and presentation.

Cristian’s final dish of guinea fowl supreme served with a ragout of canelloni beans and chorizo sausage came 2nd place to Robert Budd of Barnett Hill who was announced as the UK winner and will go on to represent the UK in the international competition in Los Angeles, USA later this year. Cristian was appointed to the role of Senior Chef de Partie for Fare of London in 2011 and has 12 years of experience in the industry. Commenting on the events, he says: “I am very pleased to have been awarded 2nd place in such a prestigious competition. Fare of London chefs always do so well in the Copper Skillet competition and I was very proud to be representing them and Ironmongers’ Hall.”
