Thanks to the efforts of Florence Convention Bureau, Firenze Fiera and local partners, the event will bring to the territory of Florence about 3000 participants including professors, researchers and professionals and will produce a total turnover of Euro 3,000,000, an economic impact of approximately 1,300,000 and € 11,000 nights among the hotels locatad in the city and its surroundings.
After being hosted in cities like Singapore and Dubai , the World Engineering Education Forum will arrive in Florence from 20th to 24th of September 2015 bringing, at the Congress Centre of Firenze Fiera, about 1500 participants from all over the world with the aim of encouraging interaction and dialogue between professionals about engineering education .
The event, entitled “Engineering Education for a Resilient Society “, will focus on the fundamental role of engineering education in the developing of a society able to adapt and deal with global issues such as climate change, economic and financial crisis, terrorism and lack of energy resources.
The bidding, supported by Firenze Convention Bureau, Firenze Fiera and AIM Group International (pco that will manage the logistic aspects of the conference), involved also the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the University of Florence (scientific partner). The WEEF 2015 will be conceived as a group of conferences and events attended by the International Federation of Engineering Education Societies and other international companies and associations.
OCLC Europe, Middle East and Africa Regional Council (EMEARC) will hold its sixth annual member meeting in 2015 in Florence. Every year the OCLC (Online Computer Library Centre) – the largest non-profit cooperative organization of libraries worldwide – brings together about 300 participants from 25 countries for the EMEARC Meeting. The event, held in the Netherlands, Germany, United Kingdom, France and soon in South Africa, will provide a chance for OCLC members and other delegates across the EMEA region to get to know each other and network. The OCLC , active since 1967 as a supplier of services and information systems in libraries, cultural organizations and their members , is the largest and most popular interlibrary existing network with a strong catalog of over 54 million bibliographic records in over 400 languages and used by over 75,000 institutions spread across all continents. For the meeting , which will take place in February of 2015, FCB is offering operational support to the organizing secretary in choosing the best location in town and selection of services reserved to the participants.
1000 participants expected in the Tuscan capital from 12 to 16 July 2015 for the International Congress of Acoustics and Vibration to share and monitor the progress of research in the field of sound and control vibration. Firenze Convention Bureau , contacted by Prof. Malcolm Crocker (Executive Director of International Institute of Acoustics and Vibration – IIAV ) worked together with Firenze Fiera and the Italian Association of Acoustics (AIA)to the bid.
The three events will probably produce a total turnover of Euro 3,000,000 , an economic impact of approximately 1,300,000 Euro and 11,000 overnight stays in the hotels of the city and its surroundings.
