The PIARC Congress, world’s most important and largest event in the road industry and accompanying trade fair will be held in Gdańsk, in the exhibition halls and the AMBEREXPO Exhibition and Convention Centre.
The decision to organise the Congress in Poland, more specifically in Gdańsk, was taken at the meeting of the PIARC Council in Rome. The other potential organiser was Chile.
‘It is a really prestigious event that attracts thousands of people from all over the world,’ says Paweł Adamowicz, the President of Gdańsk. ‘We are glad that our exhibition and convention facilities, our accommodation offer and, finally, our city itself have been acknowledged by the PIARC delegates.’
In addition to the City of Gdańsk, the Gdańsk edition of the Congress will be co-organised by the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways and the Gdańsk International Fair.
PIARC is a World Road Association composed of road authorities from over 120 countries of the world. The Winter Road Congress is organised every four years. Each time, the event is held in a different part of the world, e.g. in 2014 – in Andorra. The Congress gathers experts, scientists, as well as practitioners from companies dealing with winter road maintenance on everyday basis. It is the only event that discusses all aspects of winter maintenance: from planning activities, through their financing and standards, to innovations that can bring better quality to maintenance and reduce its costs.
