Barbican Business Events has developed a range of new services in partnership with the Barbican’s world famous arts offering that will see future Art Exhibitions available for private events and viewings such as the forthcoming Jean Paul Gaultier exhibition.

Organisers of corporate events, meetings, incentives and conferences will be able to book exclusive use of the Barbican’s Art Gallery for events such as the forthcoming The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk exhibition which opens on 9 April and runs until 25 August.

In the first major exhibition devoted to the celebrated French couturier, the Barbican invites clients to explore Jean Paul Gaultier’s fashion world. With his avant-garde fashion creations and cutting-edge designs, Gaultier has shaped the look of fashion over the last 40 years. His reputation for witty and daring designs and a ceaseless interest in society, identity and a beauty borne of difference has earned him a place in fashion history.

This theatrically-staged exhibition brings together more than 190 cutting-edge couture and ready-to-wear garments including iconic costumes for film and performance from the early 1970s to the present day. The infamous conical bra and corsets Madonna wore during her 1990 Blonde Ambition World Tour are showcased alongside stage costumes designed for Kylie Minogue as well as pieces created for the films of Pedro Almodóvar and Luc Besson’s The Fifth Element.

Bespoke packages will be created for each exhibition depending on client needs and the scope of the event.  An example created for Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk is:

  • Exclusive private use of the Gallery
  • Selection of canapés
  • Wine, beer and soft drinks
  • Dedicated events team to support your event
  • Minimum numbers of 55 for a 2 hour event
  • From £75 per person + VAT

Curators can also be included as part of an event to offer insight and information on the exhibition, its content and background.

Lee Dobson, head of event management, Barbican Business Events says: “We are constantly developing new ideas and new ways to bring together our artistic offering and the professionalism and service driven ethos of our business events team.  Through 2012 we hosted the incredibly successful Designing 007 – Fifty Years of Bond Style exhibition, which provided organisers with an unique opportunity to place their business and brand alongside the global phenomenon that is James Bond.

“Following on from the success of the Bond exhibition we are building a long term partnership with the Barbican’s Arts team that will create a different and exciting venue here in the Barbican every time a new exhibition opens.  Bond and Pop Art Design proved extremely popular and we expect this event, to be even more so.”
