Honouring regional convention ambassadors #eventprofs

Last Saturday, during The European Fine Art Fair (TEFAF), again a meeting took place of the Maastricht convention ambassador club Amici ad Mosam.

50 Attendees, including 20 Amici with partners, came together in MECC Maastricht to attend lectures, for networking and to visit TEFAF. Additionally, alderman Aarts honoured a number of Amici to thank them for their efforts as convention ambassadors of Maastricht & region.

It has become a familiar tradition. Five Amice members were honoured by alderman Aarts with a certificate as a token of appreciation for their efforts. All jubilees have organised a convention or scientific meeting(s) in Maastricht & surrounding area in the last year.
Organising a convention takes a lot of time and energy; academics organise a convention next to their regular work (research). Therefore it is important for the initiators of Amici ad Mosam to pay attention to these ambassadors in a special way. After all, scientific meetings and conventions offer a major impulse for Maastricht & region, both in knowledge and in economic terms. It is also important for the Amici to organise a high quality conference: it can open doors when applying for grants and research funds.

TEFAF
After the official part, the Amici were treated to a tour around the TEFAF. Led by a professional guide, they went to see the showpieces of the art fair. During a final get-together, there was also plenty of opportunity for networking. All-in all it was a very successful afternoon!

Amici ad Mosam
Amici ad Mosam is a convention ambassador club which was founded to create a field network and platform between the municipality of Maastricht, Maastricht Health Campus, MECC Maastricht, Maastricht Convention Bureau and the academics from the region involved in attracting (inter)national conventions. In this way, the parties involved are trying to generate more conventions and scientific meetings in Maastricht. Everyone agrees that Maastricht has much to offer as convention city; the prices are low compared to other convention cities, the quality of the sites and the services provided are excellent. The atmosphere and hospitality of Maastricht score high among the participants.
