Hotelbeds Announces over 20% growth in the Americas region during International Pow Wow 2014 #ttot

Chicago – April 2nd, 2014 – Hotelbeds, the No. 1 Global B2B bedbank, has announced its growth plans for the Americas region at the International Pow Wow 2014 trade show in Chicago.

With an online database of over 60,000 hotels in 180 countries, the company already has a strong presence across the Americas region, growing over 20% in the current financial year in terms of roomnights sold as both source market and destination. Hotelbeds is further expanding its business in the region rapidly across over 100 source markets globally. 

The bedbank’s top 5 destination cities in the USA are Orlando, New York, Las Vegas, Miami and Los Angeles. Washington D.C. and Las Vegas were the fastest growing destinations during FY13, with a rate of 50% and 41% of growth versus last year respectively. Hotelbeds’ main source markets for USA as a destination were Argentina, the UK, Brazil, Spain and the USA domestic. The top destinations for USA as a source market are the UK, USA domestic, Italy, Spain and Mexico.

As part of strengthening the companies’ presence in the Americas, Hotelbeds is also signing Preferred Partnership Agreements with leading hotels, helping to secure differentiated products and pricing advantages.

These ambitious growth plans were strengthened by Hotelbeds in 2013 with the strategic acquisition of JBS, a leading American accommodation wholesaler specialised on China as a source market, founded in 2001. Together with JBS, Hotelbeds plans to build prosperous relationships with tour operators and travel distributors in the Chinese source market travelling to the USA.

In the near future, Hotelbeds is also focused on developing and expanding its transfer and activities bank business unit under the Activities brand. Activities aims to replicate Hotelbed’s success as a bedbank with a dedicated team focused on selling a wide range of transfers, activities and experiences. It offers complete solutions to the entire travel industry through class leading technology to target the growth in the mobile channel. The business is already a leading distributor of these services, offering over 8,000 transfers and 12,000 activity options in 110 countries.

To celebrate this success in the region, Hotelbeds will be hosting the 6th edition of the MarketHub Americas at the Caesars Palace Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas from the 12th to the 15th of May 2014, bringing together more than 600 key travel players from across the Americas in one of its bestselling destinations.
