WTM2013_TECHThe Travel Tech Show at WTM 2013 will generate more than £100m in business deals for its exhibitors from its debut event.

Independent research among World Travel Market’s exhibitors shows The Travel Tech Show at WTM will generate an impressive total of £105m, either through contracts signed at the event or from negotiations with WTM Buyers’ Club members, which will lead to deals signed before WTM 2014.

And the signs are looking positive for 2014, as the second The Travel Tech Show at WTM will be 20% bigger than the first, seeing it consolidate its position as the largest dedicated travel technology event in the UK.

Several existing exhibitors have already re-signed for 2014 including TripAdvisor, CodeGen, Illusions Online, Pegasus Solutions, Comtec, Open Destinations, TravelSim, ISO Travel Solutions and Vibe Software.

Overall, WTM 2013 will generate a massive £2.2bn of deals – up by 19% on 2012 – thanks in part to the increased focus on travel technology.

The ‘show within a show’ concept of the Travel Tech Show at WTM 2013 attracted 59 new exhibitors, compared to WTM 2012.

It meant that nearly a quarter of all the new businesses at WTM 2013 were within The Travel Tech Show at WTM.

Amadeus, Comtec, Pegasus and Dolphin Dynamics were some of the familiar technology firms exhibiting last November, alongside newcomers such as Silverpop, reputation.com and Venere.

More than 7,000 visitors at WTM were interested in buying travel tech products, and more than 10,000 of WTM’s visitors also experienced The Travel Tech Show at WTM – more than a third of the total number of visitor delegates.

The Travel Tech Show at WTM’s events programme was also very successful, with 8,101 attendees – a massive 88% increase on 2012 – making it the most popular sector of events at WTM 2013.

The programme covered social media, mobile, blogging and technology, and generated almost half of the total 16,290 attendance of the WTM 2013 events programme.

The 2014 events programme is poised to be even more popular, with an increased focus on mobile technology.

The Travel Tech Show at WTM, Senior Director, Simon Press said: “The growth of the Travel Tech Show at WTM has been phenomenal and demonstrates the value of making it a stand-alone event.

“The quality of exhibitors for the inaugural event was impressive and it is heartening to see so many of them, including Peakwork, TrustYou, Travel Designer, DCS Travel Booking System and ChannelRUSH, rebooking for 2014.

“This success of the inaugural Travel Tech Show at WTM confirms that it is a must-attend exhibition for technology companies, enabling them to seal deals and generate valuable leads.

“And the signs so far show that 2014’s event will prove even more lucrative for technology firms taking part.”
