The most significant hotel price increases can be found in Seville, where prices are up by 48 per cent compared to last month. One night in April will cost an average of £96, compared to £65 in March. Also showing increases of 40 per cent or more are Prague (up 43 per cent to an average of £96), Florence (up 42 per cent to £136) and Rome (up 40 per cent to £140). Venice is also notable, where prices are up by 39 per cent to £187.

Based on the 50 most popular European destinations on trivago, hotel prices have increased in a total of 39 destinations. 11 destinations show significant increases of 20 per cent or more when compared to last month. One night in April will cost an average of £98, which is a 10 per cent increased from £89 per night in March.

Denise Bartlett, Public Relations UK: “It is surprising to see hotel prices increase so dramatically as early as April – usually we see a steady increase to the peak months of July and August. Many destinations are showing price increases year-on-year (most notably Florence and Malaga, up 17 per cent and 16 per cent respectively), suggesting a trend of increasing hotel prices. It will be interesting to see how much hotel prices increase this summer, with the peak season still a few months away.”
