The Only Way is Essex star Bobby Cole Norris successfully confronted his longstanding fear of flying at Stansted airport this weekend after attending easyJet’s Fearless Flyer course.
Bobby, who has starred in the ITV2 BAFTA award-winning show since the fourth series, suffered from a deep-routed flying phobia since he was a child, causing him to dread boarding an aeroplane and making every flight a potential misery. That is, until he joined easyJet’s Fearless Flyer course and received expert help and information on the mechanics of flying and fear.
Millions have tuned in to see Bobby and his fellow cast members as they prepare for the show’s annual trip to Marbs. This year, Bobby will be able to sit back, relax and enjoy his flights there and back following the course.
Bobby explains:
“I feel so E-mosh! I can honestly say that this course has changed my life. I can’t thank the whole easyJet Fearless Flyer team enough for what they’ve done for me.
“Waking up the morning after the ground session I felt completely different; I didn’t feel sick or anxious and was looking forward to the flight – something which I haven’t ever done. After 14 years of being scared of flying I now realise I was only scared of the air con noises! I only wish I had come on this sooner.”
Bobby Cole Norris conquers his fears with easyJet’s Fearless Flyer course
easyJet has successfully helped more than 1,000 phobics become Fearless Flyers since the course was launched in late 2012, ranging from extreme phobics who cannot even step foot on a plane, to those who experience mild nervousness.
The course consisted of a three-hour ground session presented by top phobia expert Lawrence Leyton, star of Channel 4’s Fear of Flying programme and senior easyJet pilot – Captain Chris Foster. Together they teach participants a unique set of mind techniques which will change their perception of flying forever. They are on hand to explain what every noise, bang and whirling sound is at every stage of a flight. The following day, participants are taken on a special flight to put the skills they’ve learnt to the test.
Lawrence Leyton, the host of the course said:
“We’re delighted to have cured Bobby’s fear of flying in time for his trip to Marbella. He now has the knowledge and confidence to board a plane free from fear and anxiety. We have a phenomenal success rate with over 95% of participants becoming fearless flyers. We know from the many emails that we subsequently receive from our participants from around the world that it’s a life-changing experience for them.”
easyJet’s Fearless Flyer course runs across the country with a number of other sessions coming up in Luton, Edinburgh, Bristol, Belfast and Manchester. To book a place or for more information, please visit fearlessflyer.easyjet.com
