Golf resorts, hotels, tour operators and destinations from around the globe are being urged to submit nominations for the inaugural World Golf Awards
Voting for the event is set to open on June 20th, with hopeful participants requested to submit nominations now.
World Golf Awards will celebrate excellence in golf tourism, with Conrad Algarve, Portugal, scheduled to host the first Gala Ceremony on November 15th 2014.
The presentation of the awards on the Saturday evening will form the centrepiece of a three-day itinerary for the event, allowing guests to enjoy some of the world-class facilities on offer at the famous Quinta do Lago Resort.
Everything from a chauffeur driven airport pick-up, to a full 18-holes of golf on both the Friday and Saturday, with food and beverages supplied, will be included in the weekend package.
Among the highlights will be a chance to play on the newly renovated Quinta do Lago North Course – a challenge for golfers of all standards set in a natural woodland setting of pine, gorse, heather and wild flowers.
At 6,126 metres, the North Course is slightly shorter than the South Course at Quinta do Lago, yet it is also a par 72. Golfers will be challenged by a combination of undulating greens, well-positioned bunkers and water hazards, while driving skills will be tested by four magnificent par five holes.
Of course, the Gala Ceremony will see the global leaders in golf tourism crowned, with fierce competition expected in categories including Best Golf Destination, Best Golf Hotel, Best Golf Course, Best Golf Tour Operator, and Best New Golf Course.
Having already generated sustained media interest, Bloomburg Businessweek will be on hand to cover the event.
