At “IMEX– the worldwide exhibition for incentive travel, meetings and events” which will run from 20th to 22nd May 2014 in Frankfurt, the German Convention Bureau (GCB) will be showcasing Germany as a location for events with an emphasis on areas of expertise, sustainability as well as the future and innovation. You will find an overview of over 230 German exhibitors on the IMEX website http://de.imex-frankfurt.com/ausstellen/deutschlandstand/

Frankfurt am Main, 2nd May 2014. The Germany stand organised by the German Convention Bureau (GCB) at “IMEX – the worldwide exhibition for incentive travel, meetings and events” from 20th to 22nd May 2014 will again be the largest stand at the international fair with more than 230 exhibitors. Leading hotels, congress centres, locations, urban marketing organisations, event management agencies and other service providers operating in the German meetings and conferences sector will be showcasing their services to the public at stand number F100 in hall 8 of the Frankfurt-based exhibition.

Competitive advantage – areas of expertise
An important focus of Germany’s presentation at IMEX 2014 is the key locations for important sectors in the fields of science and economics: they offer the event planners interesting points of connection for meetings or events with corresponding themes. The German Convention Bureau (GCB) is presenting information about the sectors using the publication “Germany. Expertise” which is available in German, English and now for the first time in Chinese. There will also be a daily presentation about this topic for hosted buyer groups who visit the stand.

Matthias Schultze, Managing Director of the GCB says: “Germany is presenting at IMEX 2014, one of the most important fairs in the international meetings sector, as a destination that has expertise in important sectors in science and the economy and, closely linked with this, as a leading country in the area of sustainability. With their innovative achievements, over 230 German exhibitors will be demonstrating that Germany is well-equipped for the challenges of the future.”

Looking to the future with innovative strength
Germany will be introducing itself at IMEX as a future-oriented and innovative location for events: at 11.30am on 21st May 2014 Anke Pruust, Director of Marketing at the GCB and Birgit Pacher, Media & Communications, will be presenting in the “Research Pod” at IMEX the study “Meetings and Conventions 2030. A study of megatrends shaping our industry” within the framework of GCB seminar days. There will be exciting events for visitors at the Germany stand, which will be a stop off for guided tours, relating to the future with the inspiration workshop for the events sector, MICE Club.

The leader in sustainability
Last year the German Convention Bureau received the “Green Exhibitor Award” for their organisation of the Germany stand at IMEX. This is a major incentive to focus on the issue of sustainability again in 2014: for example, the catering service provider Accente Gastronomie Service GmbH will be using organically grown, regional and seasonal products at the Germany stand where possible. mac messe- und ausstellungscenter Service GmbH, a sustainable company powered by FAMAB, has been commissioned to construct the stand. Together with CO2OL, Forest Finance Service GmbH, the CO2 emissions caused by the German presentation will be offset again and an environmental project will be supported as a compensation for the harmful emissions. Together with IMEX, the German Convention Bureau is also socially engaged: it is making a donation to support projects “Lichtblick” and “Maisha’s Sewing Project”.
