Hotelbeds achieves high growth rates in the Americas through its solid bet on Innovation and Differentiation

Las Vegas, May 14, 2014. – Hotelbeds, the No.1 Global B2B Bedbank, announces solid growth rates in the Americas reaching an average of 40% increase both as a destination and source market during the last three years, outperforming the market, which registered growth rates of 7%. The announcement was made during the MarketHub Americas Forum, which is currently taking place in Las Vegas.

Carlos Muñoz, Managing Director, Hotelbeds, highlighted the good results of the business on a global level, with growth rates of 20% in 2013, compared to the previous year. Muñoz also announced that Hotelbeds expects to double its actual size in the Americas by 2019, figures supported by a clear bet on innovation and the vision to turn the company into the most forward thinking player in travel distribution. Differentiation and business diversification are also key values for Hotelbeds, as they allow the company to simplify complexity and deliver the best results according to clients’ needs and expectations.

Hotelbeds’ position as the first global B2B bedbank player with dedicated and experienced local teams, allows it to offer travel providers a wide product portfolio of hotel accommodation, excursions, tickets and transfers. Cutting-edge technology optimizes the distribution process for a seamless sales experience. This is the right setup for future growth, with circa 30% rates estimated for 2015 in the Americas and a particular focus on the further expansion of the source markets and destinations of the US, Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Chile & Argentina.

In the words of Marta Álvarez, Deputy Managing Director Sales & Marketing, Hotelbeds, “We have reached €1.8 billion sales in 2013, and are achieving great global growth rates in roomnight sales this year, with a 21% growth YTD. However, we have to keep on working as hard as we always do in collaboration with our partners and clients in order to maintain growth this and in the following years.”

The Americas is a key growth source and destination region for Hotelbeds, which operates with a database of more than 24,000 hotels in the continent. The company has been growing its local presence in the region in the last decade, with over 100 source markets selling accommodation into the Americas, the UK, USA, Brazil, Spain and Mexico being the main ones.

As such, the company is also pleased to share that they have appointed Jaume Obrador as the new vice president of sales for the Americas. Mr. Obrador comes from Sales and Marketing in Hotelbeds as the director of Strategy and Finance, working closely with Marta Álvarez and has been instrumental in developing and helping to implement the global distribution strategy.
