Internet World 2014, 17-19 June 2014, #London: #Startup Showcase winners selected

Fifteen tech startups have been selected for Internet World 2014’s Startup Showcase (www.internetworld.co.uk/startupshowcase) competition, which offers winners the chance to showcase their business for free within the event’s Future of Technology programme.

Among the winners were Streetlike (www.streetlike.com), an omni-channel loyalty platform that uses Facebook to reach customers at home, on the move and in store; FutureLearn (www.futurelearn.com), an educational network that connects learners with educators; and Skilleo (http://skilleo.me), a tool that provides companies and job applicants a way to gain insights into their job ad or job application.

Other startups selected to showcase their ideas at Internet World 2014 include Planet Jockey (www.planetjockey.com), an online leadership training game; and nCube (www.my-ncube.com), a Smart Home platform that lets homeowners control lighting, heating and hot water in an integrated, consistent way.

Applications were judged by a panel of technology industry thought leaders, including UBM Live, Level39, Collider, Fried Frank and Clarity PR. The winners will receive an exhibition package worth £7,000 that includes:

Internet World 2014 (http://www.internetworld.co.uk/) takes place between 17-19 June at ExCeL London and is the founding event of the inaugural London Technology Week, which runs between 16-20 June 2014. The event will attract attendees from around the world and features an education and content programme split between eight separate theatres with more than 200 individual sessions.

London Technology Week (http://londontechnologyweek.co.uk/) provides a platform for technology companies to showcase their credentials on the world stage, bringing business leaders, technology professionals and media together in the heart of the UK’s technology sector in London.

Internet World 2014 Event manager Nathalie Davies said: “We’re delighted to have had so many innovative, exciting startups apply to the Startup Showcase. Internet World 2014 will provide the perfect venue for these fledgling startups to show off their ideas – they’ll be able to meet plenty of potential users, advisors, investors and advocates and share their energy and inspiration with all attendees.”

Sami McCabe, CEO of Clarity PR and one of the judging panel, said: “We were looking for creative entries from startups with a particular relevance to the Internet World audience and an existing base of customers that are already benefitting from the services the entrants provide. The quality of applications was very high and we feel that the 15 selected will do themselves and Internet World 2014 proud.”
