With a small alteration to the original plan, Church House Conference Centre’s annual client dinner attracted more than 170 buyers from agencies and corporates such as Shout about London, Avenue Events and London & Partners on Wednesday night.

“Despite the London media’s usual end of the world style predications of wide spread chaos, we decided to go ahead anyway with just a few minor tweaks,” commented Robin Parker, general manager, Church House Conference Centre. “The event was a resounding success; the menu provided by Kudos was creative and delicious, whilst the Brit performing Young Guns Gospel Choir entertained us throughout the evening, adding their own unique blend of energy and happiness.”

The annual event was restructured slightly to include earlier start and finish times, allowing guests to depart before the most severe elements of the tube strike could impact on their journeys. This led to less than 15% of the guests tendering their apologies or not showing up.

The Young Guns Gospel Choir, who provided backing vocals for Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers at this year’s Brit awards, got the Church House audience on their feet during their performance which included both classic and contemporary songs.

Parker concludes: “The Church House team were adamant that the event go on. We changed our plans at the start of the week, communicated extensively via email to all our guests and even followed up with personal phone calls to ensure there was no confusion. Feedback from attendees has been fantastic and we look forward to organising next year’s with a few less challenges!”

At the conclusion of the evening Robin Parker announced that instead of providing goody bags for guests, both Church House and in-house caterers Kudos would make a donation to the Crown Foundation who this year are supporting Great Ormond Street Hospital.
