Final preparations have begun at the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai ahead of the World Travel Awards Middle East Gala Ceremony 2014.
The event will take place on May 4th, with the leading lights of the regional tourism industry competing for the coveted prizes.
Hundreds of executive guests are expected to attend the show, which will also welcome world-class entertainment from Dubai’s very own Music Hall.
Etihad Airways will defend its title of Middle East’s Leading Airline, with the carrier hoping to take the award for the sixth consecutive year, while the prizes for Middle East’s Leading Destination and Middle East’s Leading Hotel are also hotly contested.
World Travel Awards celebrates its 21st anniversary this year, with the Middle East Gala Ceremony the first stop on the annual Grand Tour.
The tour will also include stops in Athens (Greece), Abuja (Nigeria), Quito (Ecuador), New Delhi (India), and the beautiful Caribbean island of Anguilla.
Highlighting the importance of the ceremony, World Travel Awards president Graham Cooke said: “Dubai has bounced back from its recent downturn to regain its place at the forefront of the global tourism sector. It is an honour to return here in 2014.
“Having just been selected to host Expo 2020, the Emirate is riding a wave of optimism, and World Travel Awards is part of that. The organisations nominated for our Middle East Gala Ceremony represent the very best in the region, and I look forward to recognising their success.”
The show will be hosted by Lucy Taylor and Mark Lloyd, co-hosts and producers of The Travel Show – a two-hour daily programme running on Dubai Eye 103.8FM.
