Hotelbeds reports high growth rates for 2014 in Europe, its most important market

Ibiza, 4th June, 2014. – Hotelbeds, the No. 1 Global B2B Bedbank, is currently celebrating the second edition of the MarketHub Europe. This annual three day event brings together Hotelbeds’ main European clients, suppliers and industry partners for an intense itinerary that enables networking, idea sharing and the identification of new business opportunities to take place.

The event is being hosted in Ibiza, one of Europe’s most visited holiday destinations thanks to its scenic beaches, beautiful villages and world famous nightlife. During MarketHub Europe, the company reported that Hotelbeds will achieve circa 20% growth during 2014 in Europe. The European markets continue to be key for Hotelbeds’ business, representing more than 50% of its total roomnights production in 2013.

Hotelbeds has experienced continuous growth year on year over the past decade thereby consolidating its position as the leading global B2B Bedbank. A network of professional and efficient local teams operating in 47 countries backed up by leading edge technology have been key drivers of this success. Hotelbeds’ ambitious vision has enabled the development of an online accommodation database of more than 60,000 directly contracted hotels in 180 countries, with plans to quadruple that figure by 2019.

At the same time, Hotelbeds continues to expand its range of ancillary products, to include tickets, transfers, activities and excursions, under the “Activities” brand.

During his presentation, Carlos Muñoz, Managing Director, Hotelbeds, who recently announced global growth rates of 20% last year, pointed out that Europe remains one of the most important regions for Hotelbeds worldwide. The UK and Spain were the largest selling source markets and destinations in Europe during the first half of the year, closely followed by Germany and France.

Future plans for the region include continuing to innovate the quality and diversity of the product portfolio, while developing its share of distribution markets.
