London & Partners Director of Major Events & Business Tourism, Tracy Halliwell has been named a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours lists 2014.
The Queen’s Birthday Honours recognise the achievements of a wide range of extraordinary people across the UK and Tracy was awarded the prestigious title for her services to business tourism. During her seven years at London & Partners and before that Visit London, Tracy has spearheaded the capital’s drive to attract business, cultural and sporting events to the capital.
She also led the teams responsible for delivering the Mayor’s hospitality programmes for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and coordinating the Olympic hospitality strategies for the National Olympic Committee, the National Paralympic Committee as well as key Sponsor and Sporting bodies. The honour comes at the start of London Technology Week (16-20 June) which Halliwell’s team at London & Partners has delivered in partnership with organiser UBM Live and partners ExCeL London and Tech London Advocates.
Commenting on the honour Tracy Halliwell said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to have been named MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours this year. It was completely unexpected and it’s certainly going to take a long time to get used to having MBE at the end of my name! This recognition is testament to the dedication and enthusiasm of my team at London & Partners. I’m incredibly proud of our achievements and continued success in delivering fantastic events for what I truly believe is the best big city on earth.”
Tracy Halliwell has over 20 years’ experience in senior positions within the tourism industry including Vice-President of Sales EMEA for Millennium and Copthorne Hotels, Group Sales Director for Thistle Hotels and Senior Vice-President Sales & Marketing North America for Le Meridien Hotels and Resorts.
