Open to musicians around the world – applications open until Sept. 1
HK$550,000 total in prizes
(Macao, July 1, 2014) – The Cotai Jazz & Blues Festival is coming back for its third triumphant year at The Venetian® Macao, supported by Cultural Affairs Bureau of Macao SAR Government, Oct. 9-12, 2014, featuring the return of the popular Jazz & Blues competition.
An annual signature event for Cotai Strip Resorts Macao, the Cotai Jazz & Blues Festival is calling on artists from around the world to submit their entries from now until Sept. 1 for a chance at becoming one of the 12 finalists to be flown to Macao – with transportation, accommodation and meals provided by Cotai Strip Resorts Macao – to vie for a share of the HK$550,000 cash prize pool in the Jazz & Blues competition.
Last year’s first place winners, Bleu Rascals, were invited back to The Venetian Macao in May. They performed at the Featherweight Fury after-party at Bellini Lounge, opening up for Filipino superstar rockers The Dawn, giving Bleu Rascals another great opportunity to show their talent on stage, expand their fan base and raise their profile.
This year’s Cotai Jazz & Blues Festival is letting the good times roll for an additional day, bringing a total of four days of music and merriment to The Venetian Macao’s lagoon area, in the spirit and style of New Orleans’ world famous Mardi Gras.
Adding to the fun this year is a second stage, floating in the lagoon area, and an additional chill out area, along with many food and beverage options and an expanded seating area. It will be non-stop entertainment and revelry in the lagoon area, featuring Streetmosphere performers, lights, beads, and international music – plus a large kids’ area and romantic outdoor gondola rides.
The Jazz & Blues competition is open to individual artists, vocalists, instrumentalists, and groups of up to six musicians from anywhere in the world, with the 12 finalists to perform to daily audiences of tens of thousands of Cotai Strip Resorts Macao visitors. The deadline for application is Sept. 1 at 6 p.m. Hong Kong Time (HKT). Finalists will be announced Sept. 12 (HKT) via www.cotaistrip.com.
The exciting and entertaining competition spans across the four-day festival, with the talented contestants playing their hearts out for a chance to take home prizes including a total cash prize pool of HK$550,000:
First prize: HK$250,000
Second prize: HK$150,000
Third prize: HK$100,000
This year’s competition is also introducing a Special Recognition Award, with HK$50,000 to go to a band generating an amazing public response, but not finishing in the top three.
