– Egencia delivers a delightful new user experience for the iPad with personalised travel shopping, turn-by-turn trip navigation, and trip alerts
LONDON, July 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Egencia®, the business travel company of Expedia, Inc. (NASDAQ: EXPE), today unveiled its new Egencia® TripNavigator app for iPad at the GBTA Convention in Los Angeles. The new user experience takes advantage of the larger tablet screen to provide users contextual, relevant information while reviewing trips and booking travel. It also features a new, adaptive approach to travel search.
Since the launch of Egencia TripNavigator on iPhone and Android in the last year, Egencia has seen tremendous growth in mobile bookings. Egencia expects this adoption to carry over to tablets, as studies show that 65%* of business travellers take a tablet with them on the road. To meet this demand, Egencia has developed Egencia TripNavigator for iPad to deliver a beautiful and productive booking experience for travellers, while helping corporations reduce their managed travel spend.
“Egencia smartphone apps are primarily used by travellers for last minute bookings and other itinerary changes during a trip,” says Rob Greyber, president of Egencia. “But smartphone screens have their limits and tablets make it easier to display more of the pertinent information for a booking on one screen. Our work on tablet optimisation also gave us the opportunity to incorporate new adaptive search technology. The app can now adapt to the traveller’s intent and behaviour to make the search process even more efficient.”
Larger iPad screen enables stunning new user experience
Taking advantage of the larger tablet form factor, Egencia TripNavigator for iPad shows users more aspects of their search in context, within a single side-by-side display and fluid interactions. The new iPad app features a trips view that showcases a carousel of trip cards which can be swiped across a trip timeline, to offer both a larger view and more details on any part of the trip. In addition, the search display for both hotel and flights has been simplified into a fluid experience to guide the traveller through the search process. Finally, a comparison feature in the app makes it easy for the traveller to look at their options in context and make a selection based on multiple criteria, such as hotels’ availability and rates, location on a map, traveller reviews and company policy.
Personalised search recommendations for iPad
The iPad app features Egencia’s new adaptive search technology, which leverages insights from travellers to deliver proactive, personalised flight search options. For travellers who frequently book similar trips, the iPad flights experience proposes common search options in the first step of the search process. In addition, the new ‘Similar Flights’ feature enables users to indicate what they like about a particular flight, such as similar arrival time, airline or duration, and adapts the search to provide more tailored results. By displaying inbound and outbound flight options side-by-side with clear indications of policy compliance, users can easily compare fares and quickly choose the best option.
Egencia’s new TripNavigator for iPad product will be available to all Egencia users globally by the end of 2014.
