TUI continues to expand the range of services offered to its customers. With “TUI Connect”, a new and innovative mobile phone provider will be launched, focusing in particular on travellers seeking to communicate and use their mobile devices to surf the web in total peace of mind during their holiday abroad. TUI Connect also offers additional digital services abroad. The travel group’s new mobile communications offering will come in two variants: as a fixed-term contract or a prepaid variant. Under the motto “Always connected with a smile“, marketing will start in December 2014 through all TUI distribution channels, including TUIfly aircraft, incoming agencies and Group-owned websites. However, the cornerstone of the marketing strategy is distribution through the travel agencies.

Sebastian Ebel, Chief Operating Officer TUI AG: “With TUI Content, we are aiming to offer our customers additional services that are also available at their holiday destinations, considerably reduce the associated costs and make them predictable. At the same time, we are seeking to tap new turnover sources for TUI. The new mobile phone services will not only contribute to our strategy of differentiation but also expand TUI’s premium brand promise so as to include our customers’ communications requirements.“ As a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), TUI Connect uses the mobile network provided by Telefónica Deutschland, using the best partner network available for operations abroad.

Kai Czeschlik, Managing Director TUI Connect: “Mobile communications has become a crucial component of the travel experience. International roaming costs are perceived as a major element of uncertainty by our customers. TUI Connect will open up the opportunity for holidaymakers to use their tablets and smartphones abroad just as they would do at home. We also offer digital travel services related to the location concerned abroad. However, TUI Connect customers will also benefit at home, in Germany, where they can make phone calls and surf the web in total peace of mind and with full cost control and flexibility.“

Products involving fixed-term contracts will come with attractive smartphones and tablets and will be available online at market launch. They will also be available in shops soon.

Hamburg-based TUI Connect is a wholly owned subsidiary of TUI AG. It will pool the tourism group’s telecommunications activities in future. Since 1 April 2014, its managing director has been Kai Czeschlik (42).
