Barbican has seen a 25% increase in graduation events since 2013/14 with further growth expected in 2015.

Amy Kellehar, King’s College London’s Ceremonies & Events Coordinator, said: “Barbican has offered an outstanding setting for our graduating students since 2005 and they have managed to make the events memorable for everyone attending. We had over 2,500 graduating students and 7,000 guests at July’s event in a celebration of hard work and achievement – the setting could not be more perfect for us.”

Two of the many new University clients working with the Barbican include The Greenwich School of Management and East Anglia University. East Anglia was the first university to make use of Barbican’s newest venue, Milton Court for a graduation. Milton Court is the Guildhall School’s new building, part of a development that mixes living and working spaces with the performing arts. Milton Court offers an ideal space for conferences, meetings, dinners, award ceremonies and many other events such as graduations held in the City of London.

Jackie Boughton, Barbican’s Head of Sales, comments: “Universities are always looking for new and differing venues to hold their graduation events and this is highlighted by the volume of new enquiries we have received this year. We have University clients booked through until 2016 and the response to the events we have held in 2014 have been extremely positive.”

Barbican’s primary venue for graduation events is the Barbican ConcertHall, the highly respected and stunning home of the London Symphony Orchestra, with its cutting edge stage adapted for contemporary and world class music performers. TheBarbican’s Business Events team work closely with the clients to ensure they deliver the requirements to make graduation events a memorable and personal event. The Fountain Room, Garden Room and Conservatory are also used for dining and guest speaker events following the main ceremony.

Other Universities who have held graduation events at the Barbican since 2005 include:

– London Metropolitan University
– King’s College London
– Open University
– University of London
– St Georges Medical School
– The City University
