Meetings should have a happy ending – and they do in Copenhagen“Meetovation is the best concept I’ve ever seen, because it is a mixture of bringing incentives to the groups and activating them. I have learned that meetings have a peak time and a happy ending, which is something I will bring to my groups too,” said one of the participating meeting planners after the MINDevent 2014.

The participants at this year’s MINDevent fam trip were once again highly satisfied with their Copenhagen experience. A survey following the event showed that 90% of the participants are ‘likely’ or ‘very likely’ to use Copenhagen as a meetings or conference destination – or recommend it to clients.

This video from the MINDevent 2014 shows just how MINDblowing a meeting can be:

MINDevent 2014 gathered 61 meeting planners and 10 international MICE journalists in Copenhagen in early December, and exposed them to the Danish meeting concept Meetovation and Copenhagen as a meetings destination.

Holger Bartl, CEO, feinefluchten powered by B.A.R.T.L. GmbH, who attended the event, comments:

“Meetovation is the best concept I’ve ever seen, because it is a mixture of bringing incentives to the groups and activating them. Meetings are typically too long, and now I have learned that meetings have a peak time and a happy ending, which is something I will remember and bring to my groups too.”

A survey conducted after the event indicated that 91% of the participants believed that the MINDevent 2014 had positioned Denmark as an innovative meeting and conference destination.

Lynn Wong Li Yin, Director of events and communications at Grupo Eventoplus who also participated in MINDevent 2014, adds:

“A meeting is no longer about one-way traffic. People look for participation, engagement and interaction today. And it is very good to see that all the partners in Copenhagen has that on top of mind, so the services they offer are innovative and creative.”

MIND – a unique Danish approach

MIND stands for ‘Meetings Industry Networking in Denmark’ and is built around the meetings design concept Meetovation, created by VisitDenmark in cooperation with Wonderful Copenhagen Convention Bureau, in order to higher the return on meetings investment.

December’s MINDevent 2014 was a forward-thinking networking event, which gathered meeting industry participants from all over the world. The MINDevent outlined how Meetovation focuses on four elements to generate measurable returns on meeting investment encompassing.

The four key elements are: active involvement, creative setup, local inspiration and green/responsible thinking. Here meeting and conference facilities are used in new, creative ways; inspiring local experiences become an integral part of the program; and responsible thinking is key, with a focus on local produce, recycling and environmentally friendly transport.

Participants were driven around in rickshaws, they enjoyed  ‘Brainfood,’ lunch at Copenhagen Street Food and had other meals using local produce and participated in a #BeeSustain session asking them to undertake sustainable actions.

All key elements were implemented in the site inspections in venues appropriate for meetings in Copenhagen, such as National Aquarium Denmark, Crowne Plaza Copenhagen Towers, Scandic Copenhagen, Radisson Blu Falconer Hotel, Copenhagen Marriott Hotel, Tivoli Hotel and Congress Center, Park Inn by Radisson Copenhagen, Bella Sky Comwell, and Hilton Copenhagen Airport.

Hilton Copenhagen made sure that the MINDevent had a happy ending for the participants – or for their feet at least – which were nursed in a warming foot bath, following three busy and active days in Copenhagen.

The next MINDevent will take place in Copenhagen in the autumn of 2015.
