Milton Court - Concert HallMilton Court, the London based Guildhall School of Music & Drama’s new state-of-the-art building is continuing to grow in popularity after surpassing the amount of Barbican Business Events recorded in its first year, Oct 2013 by 76% to Oct 2014.

This is set to increase in 2015 with the appointment of Glenn Mainwaring as Business Development Manager. Glenn started the role in December having previously had experience in a similar role with London venue, The Mermaid. Prior to that he was the sales and marketing manager for Searcys at the Barbican where he worked closely with the business events team working with a wide range of clients.

The number of events booked for the venue’s second year has already exceeded the total number held in its first year, with companies such as BlinkBox and All Saints Retail already confirming repeat business. The largest event held to date was the International Artists Managers’ Association which utilised all of Milton Court’s Concert Hall capacity of 608, set over 4 days.

“Milton Court did not disappoint,” comments Atholl Swainston-Harrison, Chief Executive of the International Artist Managers’ Association. “London is a city that we return to every three years so we jumped at the opportunity to showcase at this new venue. Milton Court has attractive and flexible spaces, natural light foyers and a feeling of intimacy which were factors appreciated by our delegates. The conference and events staff were informative, flexible to our needs and we valued them enormously.”

Milton Court was part of a £90million development for the Guildhall School of Music & Drama boasting world class acoustic design and world-class technical capabilities. The raked Concert Hall auditorium has been used frequently for graduation ceremonies as well as meetings, conferences and events. It is perfect for delegate numbers of 250 to 608 with breakouts and exclusive catering spaces.

Jackie Boughton, head of sales at Barbican Business Events, comments: “Already we have seen an increase in event bookings for Milton Court compared to its first year, but we expect this figure to grow significantly in 2015. Milton Court’s facilities are outstanding and enable our clients to mould their events how they wish with great results. We identified a need for the appointment of a dedicated Business Development Manager for the venue as it is fast becoming one of London’s premier conference destinations. I am confident Glenn will only help us to build on the success we have had to date and we can all be excited for the venue’s future.”
